I’ll go even farther and say that all three points of this particular love triangle are victims, to an extent. By all accounts, Charles would have married Camilla before he even met Diana if he’d been allowed to. The villain in this story is the monarchy itself, and it’s the monarchy that THE CROWN is so brilliant at exposing for the evil, inane system that it is. In Season 3, Charles was a tragic figure; we felt for him. In Season 4, he’s a monster. It’s not a natural progression for a character to make; it happened because something called The Royal Family is allowed to exist. So I’m sorry that the world is sneering at Charles and Camilla these days. And, Peter Morgan is a hero for the work he’s doing, and I for one applaud him.
